Kielder Observatory

Reception

Reception were so excited to have real astronomers and scientists in school! They listened carefully and learnt a lot about stars, light and space rocks. We explored and investigated what gives us light, using a heat camera to show which parts of the classroom and ourselves were warm! We also made some UV light bead bracelets which change colour in the sun. All the children were fully engaged and loved passing around the space rocks - we held moon rocks and mars rocks!

Year 4

Year 4 took part in two sessions with the staff from Kielder Observatory, 'Space Rocks' and 'Investigating Light'. They were amazed by the information the scientists gave them and took lots of cool facts away from the sessions. Check out our pics below!
