Early Years Ethos and Values

Mickley Community Nursery is part of Mickley First School. The Early Years block occupies on classroom and provides and exciting, inspiring, bright and learning space. All pupils have access to a large and creative outside space, which enables continuous, challenging and exciting learning. Our nursery offers flexible sessions, each session can take up to a maximum of 24 pupils per session. At the moment we offer 5 mornings and five afternoons but these are adapted to reflect demand. We also accept children with 30 hours funding and are able to accept children from their 3rd birthday.

All children attending Nursery have access to a wide and varied curriculum that incorporates outdoor learning. Key workers ensure pupils make excellent progress and are ready for the next stage of their educational journey. We plan for each pupil to have access to a varied curriculum which meets their needs through new and stimulating starting points. Our inspirational teaching staff have strong links with parents and carers, we aim to involve the whole family in your child's education. Nothing stops the children from learning, we teach resilience and resourcefulness as part of our 5R's which is embedded across school.

Every child in our nursery has the opportunity to be part of the wider school community. Children in nursery take part in our weekly celebration assemblies, they join us for dinner in the canteen and we share activities around events such as Christmas, Easter etc. Children in nursery have the opportunity to work each week with children in the Reception Class and share the excitement of learning. These sessions encourage co-operation, independence and social skills.

If you want to know more about our nursery, please download the information pack or pop into school for a visit, we would be delighted to show you around our lovely school. You can contact Miss Bishop or Mr Smith in the school office on 01661 842269.
