Our Nursery

Mickley Community Nursery occupies a large, bright and colourful classroom within Mickley First School. All pupils have access to a well resourced and laid out outside space, which we are continuing to update with resources to enable continuous, exciting, challenging and fun learning. Our nursery offers flexible sessions, each session can take up to a maximum of 24 pupils per session. At the moment we offer 5 mornings and five afternoons but these are adapted to reflect demand. We also accept children with 30 hours funding and are able to accept children from their 3rd birthday.

All children attending Nursery have access to a wide and varied curriculum that incorporates outdoor learning. Key workers ensure pupils make good progress and they plan for each pupil to have access to a varied curriculum which meets their needs. We aim to learn outside as much as possible and the nursery provides all weather clothing to enable this to happen.

All nursery children have the opportunity to be part of the main school. Children in nursery take part in our weekly celebration assemblies, they join us for dinner in the canteen and we share activities around events such as Christmas, Easter etc. Children in nursery have the opportunity to work each week with children in the Reception Class on our "Wonderful Wednesdays". These sessions encourage co-operation, independence and social skills.
