KS1 Paleontologists

In science this half term, we have been learning about animals including humans. We found out that scientists classify animals into groups and classify animals based on their diets. We learnt that scientists use teeth to help determine what kind of diet an animal has.

But, how do we know what dinosaurs eat if they are extinct?

We discovered a scientist job called paleontologists. Paleontologists study things that aren't living anymore and use fossils to find things out. We had a special delivery at Mickley First School and it was dinosaur fossil poo! We put on gloves (for safety) to investigate and examine the poo fossils to determine what diet group they belonged to. We were fantastic paleontologists, we used our science knowledge to explain our answers!
